How Much Does It Cost to Ship a Car in Texas?
July 1, 2026 · Texas Warrior Transport
If you’re moving a vehicle across Texas — whether it’s a dealer trade to Fort Worth, an auction buy in Dallas, or a classic headed to a new owner in Austin — the first question is always the same: what’s this going to cost?
Here’s a straight answer, with no games.
Texas car shipping is priced per mile
Vehicle transport is quoted per mile, and the rate depends on the service. These are the ranges Texas Warrior Transport works within:
- Multi-vehicle transport (3–4 cars): $0.45–$0.65 per mile — the cheapest per-car option because the cost is shared across the load.
- Two-vehicle loads: $0.55–$0.75 per mile.
- Single-vehicle / white-glove: $1.00–$1.50 per mile, with a $250 minimum. You’re paying for the whole trailer and dedicated handling.
So a single car from Dallas to Houston (about 240 miles) runs roughly $110–$155 per vehicle on a multi-car load. El Paso to Dallas (600 miles) as a dedicated single-vehicle move lands around $600–$900.
What moves the price
Five things change your number:
- Distance and route. The single biggest factor. Rural pickups and deliveries far from a highway add a per-mile remote-location fee.
- Running condition. A non-running vehicle needs a winch — that’s a $75–$150 surcharge because it takes more time and equipment to load safely.
- Open vs. enclosed. Enclosed transport protects the vehicle from weather and road debris and costs more. Most cars ship open; collectors and exotics ship enclosed.
- Timing. Need it picked up inside 24 hours? Expedited service runs 25–50% above standard.
- Vehicle size. A dually pickup or lifted truck takes more trailer space than a sedan.
Why “cost as an independent variable” protects you
A lot of brokers quote low to win the job, then can’t find a carrier at that price — so your car sits, or the price creeps up. We price on what a professional, veteran-operated service is actually worth, then manage our own costs to make it work. That means the number you’re quoted is the number that gets the truck moving.
How to get an accurate quote the first time
The fastest quotes come from complete information. Have this ready:
- Pickup and delivery ZIP codes (city is fine to start)
- Year, make, and model of the vehicle
- Whether it runs and drives or not
- Open or enclosed preference
- Your desired pickup date and how flexible it is
That’s everything we need to compute a real number — no follow-up required.
