How Much to Ship a Car from Texas to Louisiana

August 26, 2026 · Texas Warrior Transport

If you’re moving from Texas to Louisiana, or you bought a vehicle at a Louisiana auction and need it hauled back, the drive is the easy part. The logistics of getting a car there without putting miles on it—or without driving it yourself—are what we handle.

Texas to Louisiana is one of our most common lanes. It’s a straight shot down I-20 or I-10, but the cost and timing depend on what you’re moving, where it’s picked up, and how fast you need it. Here’s what that actually looks like.

The Routes We Run

Most Texas-to-Louisiana hauls fall into two corridors.

The northern route runs I-20 from Fort Worth through Dallas, Shreveport, and Monroe. That covers most of north Louisiana, including Bossier City and Ruston. The southern route follows I-10 from Houston through Beaumont, Lake Charles, Lafayette, and into Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

We’re based in Granbury, about 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth, so we’re positioned to hit either corridor without deadheading across the state. If your pickup is in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, we’re already close. If you’re coming from Houston or San Antonio, we’ll route the driver accordingly.

We also cover the smaller towns off those interstates—Alexandria, Natchitoches, Opelousas. If it’s in Louisiana and it’s within our coverage area, we’ll get there.

What It Costs

Rates depend on how many vehicles you’re shipping and what level of service you need.

For a single vehicle, expect $1.00 to $1.50 per mile. That’s our white-glove tier—door-to-door, careful handling, and a driver who treats your car like it’s his own. For a typical run from Fort Worth to Shreveport, that’s roughly 190 miles. From Houston to New Orleans, figure about 350 miles. The per-mile rate covers the distance; the total is the math.

If you’re moving two vehicles at once, the rate drops to $0.55 to $0.75 per mile per vehicle. That’s a solid option if you and your spouse are both relocating, or if you bought a project car and a daily driver at the same auction.

For three or more vehicles, we’re at $0.45 to $0.65 per mile per vehicle. We run an open Kaufman 4-car wedge trailer, so we can consolidate multiple vehicles on one load and pass the savings to you.

There’s also a loading and handling fee on every job. That covers the driver’s time to strap down your vehicle, secure it, and unload it at the destination. It’s not hidden—you’ll see it on the quote.

Minimums apply. A single vehicle starts at $250. Multi-vehicle loads are $150 per vehicle. If you’re shipping something light and it’s a short hop, the minimum keeps the trip worth the driver’s time.

Timing: How Long It Takes

For a direct run from Texas to Louisiana, plan on 1 to 3 days from pickup to delivery.

That’s not a hard guarantee—it depends on when the driver can get to your pickup location and whether the route is consolidated with other stops. If you’re flexible on pickup and delivery windows, we can often slot you into an existing load and get you moved faster.

If you need it expedited, we can do that. Expedited service runs 25% to 50% over standard rates, but it moves your vehicle to the front of the line. That’s useful if you’ve got a dealer waiting on a unit or you’re starting a new job and need your truck there by Monday.

What About Inoperable or Auction Vehicles?

If your car doesn’t run, that’s not a problem. Our trailers have winch capability, so we can pull a dead vehicle on and off without pushing it. That’s a common situation with auction purchases from Copart, IAA, or Manheim—you buy it sight unseen, and it may not roll.

Auction pickups are a regular part of our business. We coordinate with the auction lot, handle the paperwork on our end, and get the vehicle to your driveway or shop. The same per-mile rates apply, plus the winch time is covered in the loading and handling fee.

Heavy Equipment? Different Trailer, Different Rate

If you’re moving a skid steer, excavator, or tractor instead of a car, that’s a different service. We run a Silverback 40-foot power tilt gooseneck for heavy equipment. Rates for light equipment run $2.50 to $3.50 per mile; medium equipment is $3.50 to $4.50 per mile. Heavy or oversized loads get a custom quote because permits and routing come into play.

That trailer isn’t for cars. It’s for iron. If you’re shipping a car, it goes on the open wedge trailer. If you want enclosed transport for a classic or a high-value vehicle, that’s available as a service tier—just ask when you request a quote.

How to Get an Exact Number

The rates above are ranges, not quotes. The exact price depends on your pickup and delivery addresses, the vehicle’s condition, and your timeline. The fastest way to get a number is to request a quote with the details.
